Quad County Snowmobile Club
Minutes from May 21st meeting
Meeting was called to order at 7:35 by president Rose Schmitt. Members in attendance: Rose Schmitt, Julia Schmitt, Meri Weidman, Bill Weidman, John Strait, Gary Clark, Judy Clark, Paul Walker, Marvin McIntosh, Al Schmitt, Ed Holmes.
Treasurer, Julia Schmitt, gave a monthly report. Cash on hand- $144.00, Checking account- $618..12, Miscellaneous checks (not deposited) $20.00, for a total of $782.12. Marvin sold all of the raffle tickets he had and turned in the money. He was given more tickets to sell. Maybe he’ll be the top seller.
More discussion was held on getting landowner permission for the trails. There are just a few more people to get permission from. Rose would like to find someone to take with her to visit Mrs. Jablonski and see if we can get her to sign. Someone suggested Joyce Meyer. We also need permission from Davis’. On the Wayland end of the trail we still need permission from Baird’s and Jim Scura. Bill said he would try to get in touch with them before the next meeting. The deadline for the trail paperwork is June 30th, so we need to get the last of the permissions signed and sent in.
Rose called Dan Mulhall from DEC again. He said they would let us put our trail along the railbed. She sent him a letter describing how we will use the land as well as GPS maps of where the trail will be located. A copy of the landowner permission form was also sent to Mr. Mulhall. Now we are just waiting for his response.
Updates were given on the raffle. Everyone said their tickets are selling really well. It was decided that Rose would order more tickets so that we have some to sell the day of the raffle. She will be ordering 300 more.
Rose obtained a copy of the GPS map from Bob Clark. It turned out well and will be very useful. The remainder of the trail needs to be GPSed, however. This is the part of the trail that will go from SR 21 in Atlanta to the Ontario County line. Al said he would take care of this and have it done as soon as possible.
Rose is still trying to work on the new membership forms. She wants to update them but hasn’t had a chance to work on them yet.
Paul and Bill are still working on finding out if club officers need to be bonded.
Rose attended the meeting of the ANC. She has a signed permission form from them to use the railbed from Atlanta to Parks Rd. She also attended the Wayland Town Board meeting. It was discussed with the town attorney about signing permission to put the trail on town land. He is worried about insurance issues. Rose has given him information from the state concerning insurance and any other matters that may seem to be an issue. She will continue to contact him and hopefully have permission by the next meeting.
Gary Kincaid has signed permission forms from Fox farm and Smalt’s. John will try to get those from him. Rose talked to Eileen Schultiess about her property. She informed Rose that her and her sister own different sections of the property. Eileen said she will sign and she will talk to her sister to see if she can get her to sign. Dave Riley has signed and someone will be getting in touch with the County Public Works Department concerning County Road 92. John will be talking to Bob Clark to find out what needs to be done for crossing state roads.
Bill reported on the business membership he is trying to get. He found out that the business is a partnership. One partner is in Florida and will be back around the first of June. The partner that is in NY wants to become a business member but he needs to talk to his partner first. Hopefully, we will know more by next meeting.
The website is up and going. Updates are being done, sometimes slowly, but they are getting done. If anyone has anything they want to contribute to the website, pictures or other items of interest please get them to Meri and she will make sure they get on the site.
Rose passed out a petition letter for members to look at and sign. It concerns the money that was missing from the state snowmobile fund. She passed out extras so people can try to get signatures to help with this cause. Paulie asked to get some copies to keep at the bar so he can try to get signatures from patrons.
John hasn’t been able to get in touch with Brad West about getting permission for his land. It seems to always be a hit and miss meeting. On the Loon Lake end of the trail, John needs signatures from Rawleigh’s, Helen DeWitt, Apex Acres, and Doug Fahy. Someone will check with Gary K. and see if he can meet with the man about the Davis property.
We still need to do an inventory of the trail signs we have. We would like to get a few volunteers to help with this. Ed had the remaining signs in his car and was going to turn them over to John S. If anyone can help out with this please let one of the officers know so we can set up a date and get it done.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35.
